Why driveways fail in Indiana
Central Indiana clay pumps water up into stone, and freeze-thaw cycles do the rest. A lasting gravel drive needs the topsoil cut out, a geotextile or big base stone layer that bridges the clay, proper crown so water sheds, and ditches or culverts that give that water somewhere to go. Skip any of those and you're buying stone again every year.
